Services Offered
Core Drilling Specialists Ltd have built up a reputation as leading experts in the drilling and sawing industry. Our highly skilled staff can offer a variety of cutting and drilling techniques to the construction and controlled demolition industries. The characteristics and benefits of these state-of-the-art techniques are outlined below:
Diamond Drilling This particular drilling technique is used when precise circular cuts are required, as holes any diameter can easily be drilled to create openings for example, for plumbing, electrical and heating /ventilation installations. Core drilling is commonly used to create the holes for routing cables or for placing anchor bolts, for installing load carrying devices or for concrete sample analysis.
Sawcutting Diamond sawcutting has a limitless amount of applications from chasing to large structure removals with no disturbance to adjoining buildings. This method of drilling eradicates the need to stitch drill i.e. a series of interlocking holes.
Wire Sawing The method of setting up is similar to that of the track saw but in lieu of the saw blade a grooved pulley wheel of 800mm diameter is fitted which takes the diamond wire. This wire is passed over any number of small idler pulleys to the surface being cut. The wire is a steel core of strands approx. 6m. dia. of almost any length. It has diamond beads along the length approximately 30mm apart and 10mm dia. The beads are separated by either small springs, plastic or rubber.
Hydraulic Crunching Where the use of breakers is unacceptable this method of controlled demolition provides a safe and less noisy means of concrete removal.
Hydro-Cutting In addition to the many services already on offer, Core Drilling Specialists Ltd can now boast being the first drilling company in Scotland to offer a Hydro-cutting service. This involves the cutting of reinforced concrete by means of a high pressure water jet which simply washes away the concrete. By altering a few settings Core Drilling Specialists Ltd can remove the concrete without damaging the rebar or alternatively cut both concrete and rebar.
Floor Planning The newest addition to the wide range of services, Core Drilling Specialists Ltd have to offer! This totally dust free operation is used to remove high spots, relevelling existing floors then polishing to restore the floors original finish. Floor planing is used to correct floor irregularities particularly in aisles of warehouses, where fixed path VNA Fork Lift Trucks operate.
• Warehouse operations are more effective if VNA lift trucks can run at full speed, which may be dangerous if the floor flatness is below recommended standard.
• Poor surface regularity will cause excessive vibration on a lift truck and increase down time and maintenance costs.
• VNA Warehouses are a sound investment only if the working platforms on which lift trucks operate are free of problems - problems that could result in collisions with the racking, injury to operators, damage to stock, lower throughput and higher maintenance costs.
Shotblasting Recognised as the Premier industry standard method of concrete surface preparation, it is fast efficient and clean. Our Autoblast machines are electrically powered and are dust free in operation. Equally effective on steel as well as concrete surface the process leaves a clean profiled surface perfectly prepared for subsequent coatings ie. paints, resins or screeds. Shotblasting is unique because there is little mechanical impact with the surface thus avoiding loosening of aggregates or damage to joints etc.
• Removal of old coatings i.e. paints, adhesives or laitence
• Cleaning and texturing concrete floors, ramps, decks etc
• Providing non slip surface
• Exposing aggregates
• Preparation and cleaning of steel surfaces such as storage tanks or footbridges
